Meadows at Night - Seven for a Secret

by admin 3 years ago 256 Views

Seven for a Secret (not to be told) by the instrumental darkfolk band Meadows at Night was inspired by the traditional children's nursery rhyme One for Sorrow. The nursery rhyme is based on an old superstition, which states that the number of magpies one sees determines if one will have bad luck or good luck.

A common version of the rhyme is the following one:

One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
not to be told.
Eight for Heaven,
Nine for Hell,
Ten for the devil's own sell.
