And in Faith Robinson Irish music fans have such a voice delivering songs that are tried, tested and forever deserving of fresh rendition."In A Celtic Awakening, shot live at the Historic Masonic Temple Chapel in Detroit and on location in Ireland, Faith Marion Robinson embarks on a musical voyage throughout Irish history. Now viewers can come along for the heartwarming and emotional ride in Faith's first Public TV special. A CELTIC AWAKENING WITH FAITH MARION ROBINSON premieres on Detroit Public Television, Sunday August 19th at 8:00PM EDT.The story is born out of Faith's personal and economic devastation, represented on stage in "New York City," after which Faith Marion Robinson mystically transports the audience through an Irish dream with performance, visuals and song. A Celtic Awakening delves into relationships of family and love, the spirit of Ireland and the hope of a world reconciled in peace. Each of these points is carried throughout the musical selections representing themes of Irish emigration, the sorrowful famine, the Troubles, and modern Ireland in its role as a world leader in peace. Song selections were poignantly and purposefully chosen across multiple genres, connecting lyrics from cherished standards, Broadway, and pop songs to accomplish these themes. "Ireland to me is a country of diversity through the ages and melded with great wit, wisdom and of course the Irish golden heart. In creating A Celtic Awakening I wanted to share this beauty with the backdrop of the gorgeous landscapes and celebrate Ireland as a peacemaker in our modern age and let it shine as a beacon of hope to other countries around the world in conflict," says Faith Marion Robinson.A CELTIC AWAKENING is produced by Detroit Public Television, with executive producers Jamie Westrick and Faith Marion Robinson, director Jeff Forster, and producers Josette Marano, Lauren Smith and Aimee Gudme.A CELTIC AWAKENING features Celtic renditions of these performances:• Something's Coming• (He) Moved Through the Fair• I Loved You Once in Silence/If Ever I Would Leave You• Castle of Dromore• Fields of Athenry• I Believe• The Kerry Dance• That's All• Steal Away/Bridge Over Troubled Water• Lannigan's Ball• The Town I Loved So Well• Danny Boy• Let Us Love in Peace• Somewhere/Over the RainbowUnderwriters: Public Television Viewers, Tourism Ireland, CIE Tours International, Awakening Media Productions, LLC.Producer: Detroit Public TelevisionMusic Producers: Seamus Cullinane, Ray McLoughlin and Faith Marion RobinsonExecutive Producers: Jamie Westrick and Faith Marion RobinsonFormat: CC Stereo HD-- Detroit Public Television --CONTACT: Lauren Smith, Detroit Public Television, 248-305-3791, lsmith@dptv.orgWTVS Detroit Public Television is the viewer-supported PBS member station serving the nation's 11th largest television market, with 1.5 million weekly viewers in Southeast Michigan and 2.1 million weekly viewers across Canada.
